Job summary

Major Refrigeration is hiring an HVAC Apprentice to join our team, focusing on commercial and industrial refrigeration service, maintenance and troubleshooting across Ontario sites including Kitchener-Waterloo, London, and Barrie. The role offers a competitive wage with benefits and a company vehicle.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 2 years in commercial Refrigeration/HVAC, MGM 313A certification, and strong diagnostic skills. ODP certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprentice required.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• ODP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Strong diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints.
• Experience working with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems (ie. racks walk-in coolers/freezers, rooftop units etc.).
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with codes and company standards and legislation.

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

The Position

We are currently seeking a skilled HVAC Apprentice to join our growing team. Open positions focus on commercial and industrial refrigeration service, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multiple sites throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara, London, Barrie, Port Elgin or Owen Sound area.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Strong diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints
• Experience working with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems (ie. racks walk-in coolers/freezers, rooftop units etc.)
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with codes and company standards and legislation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprentice
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with gas heating, refrigeration systems, and airflow principles
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls
• Willing and able to work overtime, as required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
• ODP certification required
