Job summary

Major Refrigeration Ltd. seeks a Refrigeration Apprentice for commercial and industrial service across Ontario sites, including Kitchener-Waterloo. You will diagnose and repair refrigeration equipment, perform preventive maintenance and read HVAC schematics. OD P-certified and able to work overtime is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with gas heating, refrigeration systems and airflow principles.
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls.
• ODP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints.
• Work with commercial/industrial refrigeration systems (walk-ins, racks, rooftops).
• Maintain safety and compliance with codes and company standards.

The Position

We are currently seeking a skilled Refrigeration Apprentice to join our growing team. Open positions focus on commercial and industrial refrigeration service, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multiple sites throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara, London, Barrie, Port Elgin or Owen Sound area.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Strong diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints
• Experience working with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems (ie. racks walk-in coolers/freezers, rooftop units etc.)
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with codes and company standards and legislation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprentice
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience

• Willing and able to work overtime, as required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
• ODP certification required
