Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking an IT Analyst II to support information technology applications and enterprise analytics within the Corporate Data, Health Information Exchange team. You will translate business needs into technical requirements and lead project delivery to ensure reliable IT operations.

The role focuses on building analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, developing pipelines, and enabling enterprise reporting with Power BI.

Qualifications

Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.
Experience with Corporate Data: Workforce, Finance, CPSM.
Hands-on experience developing analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric or closely related Microsoft data platforms.
Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling, star schemas, semantic models).
Proficiency in SQL and Python for querying and transforming data.
Experience with Power BI, including dataset development and performance optimization.
Familiarity with data integration concepts, ELT/ETL patterns, and pipeline orchestration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Provide technical IT analysis and support to users and service delivery functions.
Develop and maintain analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric components and Power BI.
Build and optimize data pipelines for diverse data sources; implement ELT/ETL patterns.
Troubleshoot data models and semantic layers to support enterprise reporting.
Manage tickets and collaboration with vendors to resolve complex issues.
