Job summary

Myticas Consulting Inc. is seeking a data analyst in Ottawa to design and maintain dashboards and data models using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services. This role focuses on turning data into business insights for operational and executive audiences.

You will build SQL queries, integrate APIs/JSON, and translate business requirements into analytical solutions while ensuring data governance and quality. This is a stakeholder-facing, onsite position in Ottawa.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, BI, reporting or related analytical roles.
• 3+ years developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Strong SQL skills for large data sets and data modelling.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse) and Azure Data Services.
• Experience with Python/Pandas and data integration via APIs/JSON.

Data Analyst – Power BI / Microsoft Fabric

Location: Ottawa, ON – On-site
Hours: 40 hours/week (8 hours/day)

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Data Analyst to join a highly collaborative technology and data team supporting a complex, operational environment in Ottawa.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level Data Analyst with strong Power BI, SQL and Microsoft data technologies experience who enjoys turning data into meaningful dashboards, reporting and business insights.

Reporting to a senior technology leader and working closely with a Data Architect, you will design and maintain dashboards, reports, data models and analytical solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and related Azure/cloud analytics technologies.

This is also a stakeholder-facing role. Strong communication, listening skills and the ability to understand business requirements and explain data clearly are equally important to technical capability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, visualizations and performance metrics for operational and executive audiences.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform and analyze data from multiple systems.
• Build and maintain dimensional and semantic data models supporting reporting and self-service analytics.
• Develop data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Warehouse workloads, and related Azure Data Services.
• Integrate structured and semi-structured data from APIs, JSON, file-based exchanges and relational databases.
• Use Python/Pandas for data preparation, automation and analysis.
• Gather and understand stakeholder requirements and translate them into effective analytical and reporting solutions.
• Analyze complex datasets and communicate findings as clear, actionable business insights.
• Support data quality, consistency, documentation, governance, privacy and security requirements.
• Help evaluate, improve and automate existing reporting processes and systems.
• Work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and external vendors/service providers.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting or a related analytical role.
• 3+ years developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Strong SQL skills, including querying, transforming and analyzing large datasets.
• Experience with dimensional data modelling.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse), Azure Data Services or comparable modern cloud analytics platforms.
• Experience with Python/Pandas.
• Experience integrating data using APIs, JSON, file-based exchanges and relational databases.
• Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Ability to analyze complex information and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication and listening skills, professional presence and a clear, structured approach to problem-solving.
• Comfortable working directly with business users, customers and stakeholders.

NICE TO HAVE

• Microsoft certifications such as Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
• Tableau experience and exposure to other BI/reporting technologies such as Qlik, Looker, SSRS or advanced Excel.
• Experience with Snowflake, AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience in aviation, transportation or another complex 24/7 operational environment.
• Knowledge of data governance, privacy and information security practices.
• Experience with operational performance metrics and reporting standards.
• Ability to communicate in English and French is an asset.

You don't need to be the most senior technical person in the room. We're looking for someone who combines solid hands-on data skills with the ability to listen, understand requirements, communicate clearly and work collaboratively.
