Job summary

Manulife seeks an experienced Manager/Senior Manager to provide independent second-line oversight of AI model risk and operational risk across the enterprise. You will partner with business, technology, data science, and governance teams to challenge risk-informed decisions and support responsible AI adoption, including Generative AI and Agentic AI.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience for Manager-level candidates or 10+ years for Senior Manager-level candidates.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Risk Management, Business, or related field.
• Experience in Operational Risk, Technology Risk, Model Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related risk functions.
• Experience assessing or overseeing AI, ML, advanced analytics, or technology-enabled solutions.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, governance, controls, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge of AI model risks and operational risks.
• Review and assess medium- and high-risk AI use cases with proper risk treatment and escalation.
• Evaluate AI governance, model risk management, operational controls, and incident management.
• Assess risks from ML, Generative AI, LLMs, foundation models, third-party AI services, and Agentic AI.
• Review resilience, technology, third-party, change management, access controls, and incident response for AI solutions.
• Conduct thematic reviews to identify emerging risks and governance gaps across AI portfolios.
• Develop and communicate independent risk opinions, oversight assessments, and executive materials.
• Provide effective challenge to stakeholders while maintaining second-line independence.
• Support evolution of AI Model Risk Management and Operational Risk frameworks and governance.
• Monitor regulatory trends and leading practices in AI and technology risk.
