Job summary

Manulife Financial seeks an experienced Manager / Senior Manager to lead AI model risk oversight and challenge across the enterprise. You will evaluate risk in Generative AI, LLMs, and Agentic AI, provide independent opinions, and produce governance materials for senior leadership.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years at Manager level (10+ at Senior Manager), strong AI/ML risk expertise, and the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders in a regulated financial services context.

Qualifications

• 7+ years for Manager level or 10+ years for Senior Manager level.
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline as listed in requirements.
• Experience in AI, Data Science, ML, Model Risk Management, or related disciplines.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, model validation results, testing evidence, monitoring outcomes, and risk assessments.
• Strong understanding of AI model lifecycle management, governance, and control frameworks.
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries with AI/ML solutions.
• Bilingual English and French is a strong asset, especially for Québec.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge of AI model risk management practices, validation outcomes, risk assessments, controls, and monitoring activities.
• Review medium- and high-risk AI initiatives to ensure risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored, and escalated.
• Evaluate AI/ML methodologies, model design, data quality, testing approaches, performance metrics, and monitoring practices.
• Assess risks related to Generative AI, LLMs, foundation models, RAG, third-party AI solutions, and Agentic AI.
• Conduct risk-based reviews, thematic assessments, and sampling to identify emerging risks and portfolio-level concerns.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of Line 1 validation, governance, monitoring, and risk management outcomes.
• Develop and communicate independent opinions, recommendations, and challenge positions with evidence and risk analysis.
• Produce executive-ready risk assessments, management reporting, thematic reviews, and governance materials.
• Translate complex technical findings into business, governance, and risk implications for senior stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy and training improvements in AI model risk management and oversight.
