Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. Purpose

We are seeking a motivated Project Controls professional to join our Sustaining Capital Projects team at Red Chris Mine. In this role, you will support the safe, responsible, and efficient execution of new infrastructure built onsite. You will gain valuable experience in construction execution, contractor management, design optimization, and planning within a team of project delivery professionals.

Essential Duties

• Administer comprehensive cost control measures for all sustaining capital projects, ensuring adherence to budgeted parameters.
• Monitor project-related expenses in real-time, identifying and documenting cost variances linked to contractor performance or materials fluctuations.
• Assess contractor invoices against contract terms, ensuring adherence to agreed rates, hours, and materials before processing for payment.
• Regularly assess contract compliance with Newmont standards, auditing contractor performance and cost effectiveness for sustained accountability.
• Provide detailed cost analysis reports, outlining any variances, root causes, and corrective measures to meet project objectives.
• Collaborate with procurement to negotiate contract amendments, seeking cost savings or efficiency improvements in alignment with project needs.
• Maintain detailed records of contract documents, amendments, and correspondences, maintaining a transparent audit trail for sustaining capital expenditures.
• Liaise with project engineers to ensure accurate cost allocation for labor, equipment, and materials within budget constraints.
• Participate in weekly cost review meetings with capital project teams, ensuring team members are updated on financial progress and constraints.
• Propose cost-saving strategies and budget reallocations where feasible, applying validated data from similar mining projects

Training & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining Engineering, or similar.
  • Registered with AACE (American Association of Cost Engineering) is preferred, but not required.
  • Relevant experience in mining, or capital project delivery.
  • Familiarity with project delivery methods (scheduling, earned value progress, lean project delivery)
  • Experience with project controls software (EcoSys, Prism, Planisware, etc.)
  • Experience in financial systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in a remote mine site on a rotational basis.
