Job summary

Alberta Health Services invites applications for an Administrative Support III within the Switchboard unit. The role covers telecommunication tasks, emergency activations, and on-call scheduling support across multiple systems, under Health Shared Services.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Medical Terminology certificate required (testing completed prior to interview).
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm required (testing completed prior to interview).
  • Minimum six (6) months of recent experience in a switchboard, busy multiline telephone, call centre or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English language, both written and oral.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to manage difficult or traumatic situations.
  • Ability to work independently or alone with minimal supervision in isolated environments.

Responsibilities

Job description

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Medical Terminology - certificate required (testing completed prior to interview).Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm required (testing completed prior to interview).Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.Minimum six (6) months of recent experience in a switchboard, busy multiline telephone, call centre or equivalent required.Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, both written and oral required.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage difficult and/or traumatic situations effectively.Ability to function in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, and adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently or alone with minimal supervision in isolated environments.Able to work all shifts as operationally required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting above and below workstations.Bimanual dexterity required.Occasional lifting/pulling of 10–15 lbs.Prolonged exposure to computer screens.Must be able to use stairs (no elevator or ramp access to the department). Ability to walk long distances, including to alternate or emergency locations.This position is sedentary in nature and requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.Ability to perform duties with accuracy in a loud environment.
