Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) invites applications for an Administrative Support III in the Molecular Pathology team at the Calgary zone. This role supports the Consult Desk with complex administrative workflows and coordinates specimen-related logistics, reporting, and inquiries.

The position requires Grade 12, at least 1 year in admin support in a lab/clinical setting, and strong typing, data entry, and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Molecular Pathology Consult Desk with standard and specialized administrative workflows.
  • Respond to inquiries, manage data entry, print and distribute reports, and handle testing materials as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics like supplies, mail, timesheets, meetings, and IT/facilities tickets.

If so, we have an excited opportunity with the Molecular Pathology team in the Calgary zone.This Administrative Support III position supports the Molecular Pathology Consult Desk at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Molecular Pathology department provides complex molecular testing for a variety of inherited and acquired conditions as part of Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL). As an Administrative Support III, you will plan and organize your work responsibilities to perform standard and specialized workflows ensuring cases handled by the Molecular Pathology Consult Desk are received. You will request, triage and direct paraffin blocks and slides to their final destinations including laboratory technical areas and pathologist offices. Other responsibilities include, but is not limited to, responding to inquiries, data entry, printing and distributing reports, sending out testing materials, and other general administrative support tasks such as monitoring/ordering supplies, picking up/distributing mail, entering timesheets, booking meetings, and assisting with submitting IT and facilities tickets.As Molecular Pathology works closely with Anatomic Pathology and Special Hematology, opportunities for additional training to support these departments at the Arthur Child may arise. This position is scheduled as partial shifts, Tuesday to Friday, however additional casual hours and full shifts may be available as per operational needs.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalence.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year experience working in an administrative support role including experience in a laboratory or clinical setting.Excellent typing and database entry abilities (both speed and accuracy).Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.Fluency in English communication including reading, writing and verbal skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.Superior organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate work under stressful conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training or certificate/diploma in office or business administration.Greater than 1 year experience in a laboratory administrative position.Medical terminology knowledge is an asset.Previous experience with a laboratory information system such as Epic Beaker.Previous experience handling anatomic pathology materials such as paraffin blocks and slides.Additional foundations in payroll and timekeeping.Demonstrated personal and professional development.
