Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join the McKnight Patient Service Centre in Calgary. You will perform venipuncture, ECGs, and a range of specimen handling tasks in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment.

You will work with a collaborative team to ensure accurate testing, timely reporting, and compassionate care for outpatients and community patients, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
  • Preferred: 2+ years phlebotomy, ECG experience and PSC exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality service to clinical laboratory clients, handling procurement, processing and testing of specimens.
  • Perform venipuncture and ECGs, dispatching results and reporting to clinicians.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications

At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience.ECG experience.At least 6 months of experience in a Patient Service Centre.
