Job summary

Douglas College is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead the AP unit within the Finance Department. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and supervising daily activities, ensuring compliance with PSAS/GAAP and standard accounting procedures.

The successful candidate will drive training and process improvements while supporting a healthy work environment. The position is full-time (35 hours/week), with hybrid work arrangements and regular hours Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two-year accounting program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PSAS / GAAP and accounts payable procedures.
  • Proven supervisory skills and strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the AP unit's daily activities and staff.
  • Oversee payables documentation, recording, and monitoring within accounting procedures.
  • Identify training opportunities and drive process improvements within the team.
  • Collaborate with Finance to maintain accuracy and timely payments.

$58,304 to $65,630 annually. Salary scale and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement

  • Completion of a two-year accounting program at a recognized institution with a minimum of five (5) years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) / GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and accounts payable procedures.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of commodity tax, provincial and federal, as it pertains to College purchases.
  • Proven supervisory skills and experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • This regular full-time (35 hours per week) position is available starting August 31, 2026.
  • Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department’s need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • The position is located at the New Westminster campus; however, successful candidate must be available for occasional work at the Coquitlam campus.
