Job summary

Commercial Properties Limited, headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. You will support invoice processing, payments, vendor relationships, and month-end activities in a collaborative, stable real estate organization.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will help drive AP automation initiatives, maintain audit-ready records, and collaborate with property management and leasing stakeholders across a diverse portfolio.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in accounts payable, accounting, finance, or a related office environment.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
• Experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, coding, verification, approval tracking, and processing.
• Monitor invoice workflow and approval status within the AP automation system.
• Ensure invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare and process cheque and EFT payments in accordance with established controls and approval requirements.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive supplier relationships.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
• Maintain accurate and organized vendor records and supporting documentation.
• Perform vendor statement reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
• Complete monthly accounts payable reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Support internal and external audit requirements through the preparation of documentation and supporting schedules.
• Assist with other accounting and finance activities as required.
• Support compliance with internal controls, policies, and approval processes.
• Maintain organized and audit-ready records.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and efficiency.
• Contribute to ongoing finance system and automation initiatives.
