Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Finance Manager/Controller to oversee month-end close activities, manage WIP reporting and project accounting in Vaughan, Ontario. You will prepare and analyze monthly results, and partner with operations to deliver actionable insights.

The role requires strong experience in full cycle accounting in project-based environments, familiarity with ERP systems (Dynamics 365 preferred), and CPA designation is a plus but not mandatory. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, engineering, or other project-based environments.
• ERP systems experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

• Manage work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, project accounting, and related financial analysis.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
• Partner with operational teams to assess business performance and provide meaningful financial insights.
• Review accruals, reconciliations, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities as required.

Requirements

• Strong full cycle accounting and financial reporting experience, at the Manager / Controller level.
• Experience in construction, engineering, or other project-based environments.
• Solid understanding of month-end close, WIP accounting, accruals, P&L, and balance sheet reporting.
• Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
