Job summary

MNP is seeking an Accountant in Canada to join the Assurance & Accounting team. You will provide tailored financial information, act as a trusted advisor, and support clients in a rapidly evolving reporting landscape.

The role develops technical accounting skills across compilations, reviews, audits, and tax, while applying IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge. Travel flexibility is expected, with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Completion of, or working towards, CPA/PEP prerequisites.
• Experience with accounting and tax software; client service experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and/or ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walkthrough with clients.
• Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, P&L statements and reports.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets, payables and prepaid expenses.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, client summaries and presentations with engagement findings.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build client relationships.
• Contribute to improving work processes using internal systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.
