Job summary

Sobeys Inc. in Stellarton is hiring a permanent Accountant to join the Finance Accounting & Control team on a hybrid schedule (3 days in person).

You will prepare and post GL entries, complete period closes, support IFRS reporting, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive accurate financial insights.

Qualifications include a university degree, 1–2+ years accounting experience, CPA in progress asset, advanced Excel, IFRS knowledge, SAP preferred, and strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• University Degree.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare and post entries and account for transactions in the general ledger.
• Prepare and review working papers that support account balances, investigate errors, and facilitate correction.
• Complete period-end close processes, controls, and procedures.
• Review and update the detailed schedules for financial statement note disclosure purpose.
• Prepare and explain balance sheet variances with comparative periods.
• Ensure compliance with CEO/CFO Certification requirements.
• Participate in the internal and external audit requests.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to support and guide them with proper recommendations in accordance with accounting standard IFRS.
• Process improvement mindset, propose innovative ideas.
• Prepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports
