Job summary

The Mason Group is coordinating on a Senior Accountant opportunity with a publicly traded technology company in the Waterloo region. You will own significant portions of the close process and lead the fixed assets, intangibles, and balance sheet reconciliations, reporting to senior finance leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of corporate or public accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong Excel skills and analytical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Execute month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities with journal entries.
  • Manage end-to-end fixed assets and intangible assets accounting processes.
  • Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
  • Support external audits and statutory compliance for global subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, treasury, and tax; contribute to process improvements.

Job description

Our client is a well-established, publicly traded technology company headquartered in the Waterloo region, with a strong global footprint in cybersecurity and IoT software. They operate with a structured, mature finance function supporting a complex, multi-segment business. This is an exciting opportunity to join as Senior Accountant, taking ownership of a significant portion of the finance function with direct visibility to senior finance leadership. Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries; manage the end-to-end fixed assets and intangible assets accounting process, including capitalization, depreciation and amortization, disposals, and continuity schedules; prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations (prepaids, accruals, intercompany), investigating and resolving variances; support external audit activities, including preparation of supporting documentation and responses to auditor requests; assist with statutory compliance requirements for global subsidiaries; ensure financial records adhere to GAAP, SOX controls, and internal accounting policies; coordinate mandatory government surveys; contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability; collaborate with cross-functional teams including FP&A, treasury, and tax; assist with ad hoc accounting-related analyses and reporting requests.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting or public accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven close environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within an accounting and reconciliation context
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams
