Job summary

MINISO Canada is seeking a Senior Accountant to support finance operations across multiple store locations and corporate functions. Work Location: North York, ON. Salary starts at $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include managing GL, AP, AR, month-end closes, financial reporting, cash flow monitoring, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. CPA in progress or completed is preferred, with 4–6 years of accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation completed or in progress preferred.
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience in full-cycle roles.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounting cycle including GL, AP and AR.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Analyze financial data and produce monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• Monitor cash flow and assist treasury activities.
• Review bank accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Support audits, tax filings and regulatory compliance.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Operations, Merchandising, Retail Stores and Management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Monitor cash flow and support treasury management activities.
• Review and reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany transactions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Merchandising, Retail Stores, and Management to support business objectives.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff when required.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation completed or in progress is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query preferred).
• Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in retail, distribution, wholesale, or multi-location environments is considered an asset.
