Job summary

MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada, seeking an Accountant in Dartmouth, NS. You will support the Assurance & Accounting team with compilations, reviews, audits and financial reporting for diverse mid-market clients.

You will apply IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge, set up new client files, manage multiple engagements and collaborate with client teams. A CPA path and accounting software experience are assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• CPA Professional Education Program prerequisites during employment.
• Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisitions and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize current financial status with balance sheets and income statements.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues and assets.
• Review discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare client correspondence, technical reports and engagement findings.
• Collaborate with the client engagement team and relationships with client contacts.
• Contribute to process improvements using internal programs and systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
