Job summary

MNP LLP in Ottawa is seeking an Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will conduct compilation, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax engagements for diverse clients, helping them navigate a rapidly evolving financial reporting landscape.

Bachelor’s in commerce or business administration, CPA PEP enrollment, 1–2 years of accounting experience, and working knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and accounting software are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, SEC and IFRS.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize clients’ financial status with balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
• Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and payables.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports and client summaries outlining findings.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
• Travel flexibility as necessary.
