Job summary

The Developmental Disabilities Association is seeking a Child & Youth Worker in Vancouver, BC for a permanent part-time role. The position supports Early Learning & Youth Services and requires a commitment to enriching leisure programs for youth with disabilities.

The role offers an on-going schedule (Mon 13:00–18:00; Tue–Fri 14:00–18:00, 21 hours/week), competitive hourly wages ($28.04–$31.04), and union membership. Start date is August 24, 2026, with varied hours during school breaks.

Qualifications

• Certificate or minimum of 3 years in related studies toward a degree such as Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Child Care, Social Sciences, or Education.
• Minimum 1 year direct experience with youth in a recreational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Formal training in the area of counselling and behavior management.
• Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility and endurance for recreational activities.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Unrestricted Class 4 Driver's License or Class 5 Driver's License, and are willing to obtain a Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License
• Valid First Aid/CPR
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification - training will be provided
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Basic computer literacy
• Eligible to work in Canada
