Near North District School Board invites applications for an Occasional/ETFO teacher to join the Intermediate Personal Life Management Program classroom at Parry Sound Intermediate.

The position is open to Occasional Teachers and Permanent ETFO Teachers, with temporary assignment for successful ETFO candidates.

Formación

• Must hold a valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate.
• Must hold a valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers.
• Intermediate Qualifications required.
• Special Education Specialist qualification required.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Management Plans and Transition Plans for students with special education needs.
• Coordinate daily communication, team meetings and case conferences with the multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with educational assistants, outside agency staff and clinicians/therapists.
• Utilize trauma-informed instructional practices and leverage ABA/BMS strategies in instruction.

1.0 LTO Intermediate Personal Life Management Program Classroom Teacher

Location: Parry Sound Intermediate

Open to both Occasional Teachers and Permanent ETFO Teachers. Permanent ETFO Teachers who are successful in the competition will be assigned to this position on a temporary basis, and the resulting vacancy will be filled through an LTO appointment.

This is a self-contained Special Education classroom position and requires an interview

Position:

• Intermediate Personal Life Management Program Classroom Teacher

Required teaching qualifications:

• A valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
• A valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers
• Intermediate Qualifications
• Special Education Specialist

Position Criteria:

• Knowledge of alternative program development, implementation and assessment for elementary students with special education needs, including but not limited to acquisition of life skills, self-regulation, self-care, communication and functional literacy and numeracy skills that vary from the Provincial Curriculum
• Demonstrated knowledge regarding the creation and implementation of individual education plans for students with varying needs, including students with autism and developmental disabilities
• Demonstrated experience with successful use of ABA strategiesand BMS strategies
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a member of multidisciplinary team including educational assistants, outside agency staff and clinicians/therapists
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate daily communication, team meetings and case conferences
• Experience developing Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Management Plans, Plans of Care and Transition Plans for individual students
• Evidence of on-going professional development, including technology integration for teaching/learning and assessment
• Knowledge of trauma-informed instructional practices and approaches, considered an asset
