Near North District School Board is seeking an Occasional/ETFO teacher for a 1.0 LTO Intermediate Personal Life Management Program Classroom position at Parry Sound Intermediate. This self-contained Special Education classroom requires interview and offers temporary assignment with potential vacancy via LTO appointment.

The role focuses on life skills, self-regulation and functional literacy, requiring collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and ongoing professional development.

Formación

• Experience designing IEPs, BMS/ABA plans for students with autism and developmental disabilities.
• Ability to coordinate daily communication and case conferences with a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of life skills, self-regulation, self-care and functional literacy/numeracy needs.
• Experience with trauma-informed instructional practices is an asset.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver an Intermediate Personal Life Management Program in a self-contained Special Education classroom.
• Collaborate with educational assistants, outside agency staff and clinicians/therapists.
• Coordinate team meetings, reports and transitions for individual students.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional development and technology integration for teaching and assessment.

1.0 LTO Intermediate Personal Life Management Program Classroom Teacher

Location: Parry Sound Intermediate

Open to both Occasional Teachers and Permanent ETFO Teachers. Permanent ETFO Teachers who are successful in the competition will be assigned to this position on a temporary basis, and the resulting vacancy will be filled through an LTO appointment.

This is a self-contained Special Education classroom position and requires an interview

Position:

• Intermediate Personal Life Management Program Classroom Teacher

Required teaching qualifications:

• A valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
• A valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers
• Intermediate Qualifications
• Special Education Specialist

Position Criteria:

• Knowledge of alternative program development, implementation and assessment for elementary students with special education needs, including but not limited to acquisition of life skills, self-regulation, self-care, communication and functional literacy and numeracy skills that vary from the Provincial Curriculum
• Demonstrated knowledge regarding the creation and implementation of individual education plans for students with varying needs, including students with autism and developmental disabilities
• Demonstrated experience with successful use of ABA strategiesand BMS strategies
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a member of multidisciplinary team including educational assistants, outside agency staff and clinicians/therapists
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate daily communication, team meetings and case conferences
• Experience developing Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Management Plans, Plans of Care and Transition Plans for individual students
• Evidence of on-going professional development, including technology integration for teaching/learning and assessment
• Knowledge of trauma-informed instructional practices and approaches, considered an asset
