Title and Summary

Senior Managing Consultant, Business Development Overview

The Services Business Development team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing the cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. We combine traditional management consulting with our rich data assets and in-house technology to provide our clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations.

While specializing in the payments industry, the Services team also works closely with major retailers, airlines, and other enterprises, leveraging data and insights garnered from within and beyond its network.

Role

The Business Development SMC, in partnership with the division lead and regional teams, will further drive growth of Mastercard’s Data & Services business in BRAZIL by developing new business and creating strong partnerships with FIs, merchants, fintechs, and government.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Together with the division lead and the business development team, shape growth strategy in Brazil and ensure execution of the strategy.
  2. Identify the most critical aspects of problems that clients are facing and craft relevant solutions leveraging Data & Services expertise and existing capabilities.
  3. Lead business development team in developing winning sales pitches tailored to client needs.
  4. Deliver succinct and persuasive sales pitches to senior client executives.
  5. Build peer relationships with senior/executive level client management.
  6. Partner with project teams to ensure project quality and identification of follow-up sales opportunities.
  7. Play a key role in the creation of new Intellectual Capital and become a “thought partner” for Clients.
  8. Actively participate in recruiting, training, and developing others.
  9. Align efforts with Mastercard core team for sales success, including managing external obstacles and maintaining leadership alignment and support.

All About You

Education Needed:

Undergraduate degree required. MBA or relevant post-graduate degree recommended.

Experience and Skills:

  1. Consulting experience from a top-rated consulting firm.
  2. Breadth and depth of knowledge and experience working in financial institutions and/or merchants (Retailers/Telco’s).
  3. Payments/Cards expertise is an advantage.
  4. Proven sales expertise is a strong plus.
  5. Highest level of self-motivation.
  6. Ability to work on a team or independently.
  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, and close a sale.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Portuguese and English.
  9. Ability to develop compelling sales narratives in influencing sales closure.
  10. Ability to guide and support Business Development and project delivery teams in developing storyline construct that drives project analysis.
  11. Excellent analytic capabilities and skills.
  12. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  13. Ability to think from the perspective of the customer.
  14. Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  15. Bachelor’s and post-graduate degrees (MBA or other) from leading universities.
