The opportunity is for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial and contractual management on large-scale infrastructure projects in Scotland. You will manage cost control, budgeting, and reporting, while directing a team of Quantity Surveyors, Assistants and Commercial staff to maximise profitability.

With a civil engineering background and extensive experience inFIDIC/NEC/JCT contracts, you will drive risk management, variations, and client/ subcontractor negotiations, supporting

Qualificações

• This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and extensive experience in cost and budget management, contract administration, and claims/variations on large-scale infra projects.
• Proficiency in cash flow management, financial reporting and risk management, with leadership of commercial teams.
• Experience with major contracts (FIDIC, NEC, JCT) and robust governance practices.

Responsabilidades

About the opportunity

A leading international infrastructure company, with a strong market presence and high-impact projects, is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its operations in Scotland.

This opportunity is ideal for senior professionals with strong experience in commercial and contractual management, looking to build an international career in large-scale, complex infrastructure projects.

• Location: Scotland
• Projects: Large-scale infrastructure projects (multi-billion value)
• Sector: Road construction and urban infrastructure
• Work model: On-site, with direct project involvement
• Working hours: 08:00 to 18:00 (local time), with lunch break
• Team structure: Management of commercial teams (Quantity Surveyors and Assistants)

Compensation

Salary range: £55,000 to £80,000 per year (GBP) (depending on experience and seniority)

• The company provides accommodation support and a company car
• Availability for international relocation is mandatory

Language

Fluent English is mandatory

Recruitment process

Key responsibilities

Commercial Management

• Lead the commercial strategy of the project
• Manage cost control and financial forecasting
• Monitor project budgets and cash flow
• Prepare and present monthly commercial reports

Contract Management

• Administer construction contracts and subcontract agreements
• Manage contractual variations and change orders
• Ensure contractual compliance across all project activities

Claims and Variations

• Manage contractual claims and dispute processes
• Handle Extension of Time (EOT) submissions
• Prepare commercial and contractual documentation
• Maintain and update risk and opportunity registers
• Identify commercial risks and mitigation strategies
• Support project teams in risk evaluation and mitigation

Subcontractor Management

• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers
• Manage subcontractor packages and commercial performance
• Ensure alignment with project budget and programme

Leadership

• Lead and mentor the commercial team
• Support the development of Quantity Surveyors and Assistants
• Ensure high standards of commercial governance

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Civil Engineering or related field)
