Qualificações

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychopedagogy or an international SEN qualification is essential.
  • Specialization in Neuroscience or related areas is desirable.
  • Experience in an international style school is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced, well-qualified and collaborative Special Educational Needs expert to lead our established Learning Support department within the secondary section of the school. The British School prides itself on being an inclusive school where students with different cognitive and emotional profiles can access the curriculum, participate in activities and reach their potential. The Learning Support Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring this, including advocating for SEN students as well as those with exceptional abilities and ensuring that all teachers have the resources and training to enable them to flourish and leading a team of learning support assistants who support students with specific special educational needs.

The school can offer excellent facilities in modern classrooms, motivated students, collaborative colleagues, and a competitive salary. Staff are provided with a school laptop and access to a variety of online platforms to support teaching and learning, along with a strong commitment to professional development of all staff and opportunities to take on further responsibilities. Class sizes are small (below 20) and staff receive a generous time allowance for planning and marking.

Key responsibilities:

Shaping the future

  • Contributing to the establishment of the school vision and articulating it so that it is understood by others and acted upon.
  • Making creative and innovative contributions to strategic plans that realise the vision and sustain school improvement.
  • Taking account of the diversity, values and experience of the school and its community
Leading learning and teaching
  • Being involved in determining, organising and implementing the curriculum and establishing creative, responsive and effective approaches to learning and teaching (including the appropriate use of new and emerging technologies).
  • Using appropriate data to monitor pupils' progress, set stretching targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Being involved in securing high standards of behaviour and attendance and ensuring an ethos of challenge and support where pupils can achieve success.
Developing Self and Working with Others
  • Working collaboratively with others to build an open, fair and equitable learning community. Contributing to effective staff induction and professional development.
  • Managing own workload and the work of individuals and teams effectively, providing support when necessary and delegating where appropriate.
  • Reviewing the performance of staff and taking action when performance is unsatisfactory.
  • Contributing to building a school culture and curriculum which take account of the richness and diversity of the school's communities and promote positive strategies for challenging prejudice.
  • Enhancing the value of the school to the wider community (including parents and carers and other schools) and involving that community in enriching the learning experiences of pupils.
  • Collaborating with other agencies, and with parents and carers, to ensure pupils' well-being and improve their achievement and personal development.
Requirements:
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychopedagogy or an alternative international qualification in Special Educational Needs is essential.
  • Specialization in Neuroscience or related areas is desirable.
  • Previous experience teaching in an international style school is not necessary but may be an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
