An international educational institution in Rio de Janeiro is seeking a Careers & University Coordinator to lead the development of a progressive careers curriculum while providing expert guidance on domestic and international university applications. The ideal candidate will possess proven teaching experience, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and exceptional communication skills to engage with students, parents, and university representatives. Qualificações

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and project management skills.

Careers & University Coordinator (Whole School)
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership and curriculum development
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a progressive careers curriculum, integrating it with the school's IB programs and collaborating with Pastoral Leads and IB Coordinators to embed careers and life skills into the pastoral framework.
  • Training and Management: Lead the training and development of Year 12 and 13 Tutors and Heads of Year to provide consistent, high-quality university application support, ideally maintaining the same staff with each cohort for continuity.
  • Technology Integration: Manage and utilize an online central hub for all careers resources, communications, and student progress tracking.
  • Technology Integration: Ensure careers counselors have the tools and assessments needed to evaluate students’ strengths and interests, guiding them toward suitable academic and career pathways.
Higher education guidance and admissions
  • International admissions expertise: Provide expert guidance on domestic and international university applications, with strong knowledge of UCAS (UK), the Common Application (US), European systems, and the Brazilian Vestibular process, while maintaining close relationships with university admissions departments.
  • Specialized counseling: Provide targeted support for highly competitive applications, including Oxbridge-level counselling for the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and Ivy League/top-tier US institutions.
  • Application management: Oversee all aspects of the application process, including setting and enforcing deadlines for student and teacher components, and ensuring transcript quality and accuracy.
Events, outreach, and student experience
  • Parent presentations: Design and deliver parent presentations that clearly communicate admissions processes, funding options, and career pathways.
  • Alumni and local experts network: Support the development and maintenance of a strong alumni and local expert network to provide mentoring, career insights, and resources for current students.
  • School communication: Ensure timely and effective communication regarding all career events, deadlines, and news across the whole school.
  • International Cultural Development: Support the school leadership team in promoting global citizenship, international mindedness, and aspirations for international study.
Requirements
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential to effectively guide students and communicate with both local and international universities and parents.
  • Proven teaching experience at the secondary level, preferably within the IB framework.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, International Relations, HR or related fields, besides proven experience and demonstrable knowledge of the UCAS, US, European, and Brazilian university admissions processes.
  • Proven ability to build a comprehensive strategic vision in partnership with leadership colleagues to create buy-in from stakeholders and hold direct reports accountable for the day‑to‑day delivery of this vision.
  • Exceptional ability to build rapport with students, parents, university representatives, and colleagues. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and project management skills.
