Winnin is seeking a Learning Support Teacher to champion inclusive education and collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to support diverse learners. The role focuses on identifying student needs, designing individualized supports, and coordinating accommodations within classroom curricula.

The position emphasizes documenting progress, leading Student Services initiatives, and contributing to ongoing professional development to maintain best practices in learning support.

Responsabilidades

  • Design and implement Student Support Plans (SSP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP) with the Student Services Coordinator.
  • Create, update, and monitor SOAP (Student Observation and Action Plan) documentation and actions.
  • Provide individual and small-group academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support.
  • Help students develop organizational, self-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are applied in instruction and assessment.
  • Maintain accurate student records and report progress to families and administration.
  • Participate in grade-level and student services meetings to align supports and share insights.

Job Overview

The Learning Support Teacher plays a crucial, integral role in ensuring high-quality learning support for students, serving as a key advocate and model for inclusive and equitable approaches to education. This position requires a commitment to understanding and addressing the unique learning profiles of every student, working in direct partnership with teachers and staff to foster an environment where all students can thrive. The Learning Support Teacher reports to the Principal, while receiving specialized technical guidance, instruction, and collaborative supervision from the Student Services Coordinator, always serving the best educational interests of the School and its students.

Core Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention
  • Work in collaboration with teachers to design and provide support for students identified as requiring support.
  • Responsible for creating, updating, and implementing Student Support Plans (SSP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP), alongside the Student Services Coordinator.
  • Collaborate and update Student Observation and Action Plan (SOAP) as the internal documentation of identified needs and strategies.
  • Attend SOAP meetings, to contribute with insights and observations of referred students collaborating with the action plan and strategies moving forward.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to identified students. This includes academic, social, emotional, behavioral support through creating opportunities.
  • Assist students in developing organizational, self-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attend grade-level planning meetings to design and advocate for accessible learning.
  • Participate in learning support team meetings to contribute with the reflection and improvement of best practice, housekeeping and guidelines are services offered.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and adaptations to the learning environment or learning experiences (curriculum, assignments, and assessments) in collaboration with teachers and in accordance with students’ plans.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with families and students to encourage student success.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and intervention strategies.
  • Participate in family meetings, conferences, and reviews of support plans.
  • Provide support to enable students with learning differences to access the curriculum and show understanding.
  • Support the development and maintenance of EAC’s Student Services and Learning Support policies and approaches, particularly in relation to students with unique learning profiles.
  • Oversee grade checks, missing work reports, and academic risk monitoring, as required.
  • Maintain documentation of intervention and support sessions. Add and update Child Study Team Meeting documents with notes when communicating with the family.
  • Track student progress using school data systems and report trends or concerns to administration.
  • Co-lead Child Study Team Meetings (ES) / SSP/IEP Meetings (US) alongside the Student Services Coordinator.
  • Assess and facilitate the implementation of accommodations requirements for students during assessments.
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to parents, with respect to how they can support their children.
  • Identify and implement/supervise accommodations and modifications to the regular curriculum for students with specific needs.
  • Work with the Student Services Coordinator to keep accurate records of student achievement and provide suitable communication and reports to parents and teachers.
  • Promote practices based on sound educational research (ensuring evidence‐based practices are implemented).
  • Attend professional development opportunities or training as appropriate, with the aim of maintaining currency of teacher registration and professional knowledge.
Collaboration
  • Liaise with the various external professionals, teachers, and families to focus on the needs of individual students, with the purpose of facilitating appropriate learning support or enrichment/extension.
  • Partner with teachers to implement classroom accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports.
  • Monitor students’ progress and well-being.
  • Provide professional development and resources to Teachers serving diverse learners.
  • Develop positive working partnerships with students, families, and staff to support, improve, and extend students’ learning.
  • Interact empathetically with children and their families, showing concern for the well‑being and learning of all children.
  • Participate actively in Grade-Level Meetings providing additional information about students with plans and suggestions for strategies to support students and improve teaching and learning.
  • Help develop, monitor, and review behavior plans for students with recurring challenges on the case load.
  • Support teachers with classroom management strategies as needed.
  • Coordinate interventions such as homework clubs, study halls, or academic support blocks.
Operational and Professional Conduct
  • Uphold professional standards by adhering to EAC Teacher Handbook procedures and assisting in enforcing school policies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff regarding student progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share ideas, materials, and methods.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Actively engage in school life and perform assigned supervisory duties, when assigned.
  • Promptly report maintenance concerns and order necessary supplies following school guidelines.
