Private Advertiser in the North Brazil region is seeking a Lab Engineer to validate materials, analyze inks, and perform rigorous testing across mechanical and environmental domains. The role requires hands-on lab work with adhesives, face stocks, and release liners, plus accurate color matching using spectrophotometers.

Material Validation: Test incoming pressure-sensitive adhesives, face stocks, and release liners for quality compliance.
Ink Analysis: Evaluate ink properties including viscosity, curing speed, density, and surface tension.
Performance Testing: Execute mechanical and environmental stress tests, including peel adhesion, shear resistance, and accelerated aging.
Color Management: Use spectrophotometers to match precise brand color specifications and calculate color deviations (Δ E).
Troubleshooting: Conduct root-cause investigations on manufacturing defects like ink flaking, label curling, or adhesive failure.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain lab safety protocols and ensure all raw materials comply with global standards like REACH, RoHS, and FDA regulations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on laboratory experience, ideally within the printing, packaging, coating, or adhesive industries.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with lab hardware like tensile testers, analytical scales, and color measurement tools.
Process Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial print processes such as UV flexography, digital inkjet, or thermal transfer.
Methodology: Strong understanding of standard testing methods, particularly ASTM or FINAT standards for self-adhesive materials.
Mindset: A methodical problem-solver who can translate complex technical findings into actionable advice for our press operators.
1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Powerpoint applications
2. Comprehension of analytical report such as GCMS, FTIR, IC, SEM/EDX, Microscope, Tensile/Abrasion Test, etc.
3. A good understanding and application of SPC tools and Minitabs
4. Bilingual but good proficiency in English - Spoken & Written
5. Hands-on & self-driven personality requiring minimum supervision
6. Able to handle and manage stressful situations
