UN-Habitat Brazil seeks a Junior Communications Assistant to support the Social Territories Program in Rio de Janeiro. You will assist in organizing events, creating content, and disseminating materials while following UN-Habitat branding standards.

Its Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focuses on developing and managing activities within the country. This role supports the Social Territories Program, aiming to address urban poverty through enhanced institutional capacity and community engagement.
Job purpose: This Junior Communications Assistant role supports the UN-Habitat Brazil office in implementing the Social Territories Program. The purpose is to assist in communication activities that contribute to addressing multidimensional urban poverty by enhancing institutional capacity, promoting social participation, and improving access to opportunities. The role will involve supporting event organization, content creation and dissemination, and maintaining communication systems to ensure project objectives and organizational priorities are met within the scope of the program's second phase.
Key responsibilities include participating in the production and organization of events, workshops, and meetings, ensuring alignment with local needs and UN-Habitat standards. The role involved contributing to publication activities and content management, adhering to design and branding guidelines. Disseminating corporate advocacy materials for initiatives, publications, and campaigns under the Social Territories Programme is crucial. Additionally, the assistant will cover workshops with visual content, produce human impact stories, and manage an organized system for communication materials. Reporting and formatting documents according to ABNT and UN-Habitat standards are also required.
A High School Diploma is required. A Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field is desirable. Completion of the BSAFE security course from UNDSS is mandatory within the first month of employment.
A minimum of two years of experience in communications and advocacy within Brazil is required. Previous experience working with the United Nations is desirable. Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and web search tools is necessary.
