UNOPS is seeking a Communications Associate to boost visibility across national, regional, and global levels, crafting stories, managing external content, and coordinating with partner units.
You will produce web stories, newsletters, press releases, and social posts, support media relations and crisis communications, and help plan campaigns and events while ensuring gender-responsive messaging.
UNOPS operates in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on infrastructure, public health, and institutional capacity building to advance sustainable development goals. The Southern Cone Multi-Country Office in Brazil oversees operations in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, supporting national priorities through various sectors including health, education, and urbanization. This role is part of a specific cooperation agreement to operationalize a program addressing collective moral damages from an environmental disaster in Maceió.
The Communications Associate is responsible for enhancing UNOPS' visibility and reputation by developing and implementing communication strategies. This role involves creating and editing diverse content, including web stories, press releases, and social media posts, ensuring adherence to corporate and partner standards. The Associate will support external communications and media relations, coordinate events and campaigns, and manage content production. Key contributions include assisting with communication planning, providing essential administrative support for communication initiatives, and coordinating the program's communication unit, guiding its team and liaising with other units to ensure effective outreach and visibility for the reparation program.
The Communications Associate will implement communication strategies to increase UNOPS' visibility and outreach nationally, regionally, and globally, ensuring deliverables meet partner requirements and UNOPS guidelines. This includes supporting project communication strategies, stakeholder mapping, and crafting project narratives. The role involves developing and producing content such as web stories, newsletters, press releases, and social media posts, as well as supporting multi-media products and coordinating communication inputs for events. Additionally, the Associate will assist with media relations, crisis communication, and producing outreach materials. Administrative support includes developing Terms of Reference for communication services, preparing requisitions, and maintaining material inventories. The role also supports gender-responsive communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
A secondary school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience is required. A professional certificate in communications, journalism, or digital/social media communications is desirable.
Requires relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, or journalism. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural environments, the UN system, developing countries, development or humanitarian contexts, grassroots-level audience engagement, and using graphic design or video production tools.
