Liberty International Insurance (LII) Latin America & US in Brazil seeks a permanent actuarial professional to provide business-facing actuarial support across Latin America. This role partners with underwriting and leadership to drive pricing, portfolio management, and strategic analytics.

Key focus areas include pricing tools development, profitability analyses, and cross‑functional collaboration with Finance, Claims, and Enterprise Risk Management.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
  • Advanced computing skills and ability to build models.

Responsabilidades

  • Support pricing tools development and rating methodologies.
  • Provide account pricing support and portfolio analytics.

In Latin America, LII primarily operates through Facultative Reinsurance, writing a broad range of products including Casualty, Financial Lines, Energy & Construction, Property, Marine, and Terrorism. The regional platform is supported by offices in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Miami, enabling close engagement with local markets while maintaining strong alignment with global underwriting and risk frameworks.

About the Department & Team

The Actuarial Function provides Liberty International Insurance (LII) management with a clear, risk‑based view of business performance to support strategic decision‑making and risk mitigation. The overall team covers pricing, reserving, business planning, and capital, and plays a key role in exposure management and reinsurance support.

Actuarial Priorities

Key priorities for the Actuarial Business teams include:

  • Continuing the implementation of a best‑in‑class pricing platform, supporting underwriting transformation across our global portfolio
  • Delivering analytics that enhance underwriting risk selection and strategic portfolio management
  • Strengthening partnerships with Underwriting and aligned business units, acting as trusted advisors through consistent, high‑quality actuarial insight and communication
Role Overview

This is a permanent actuarial role based in Brazil providing business-facing actuarial support across Liberty International Insurance (LII) Latin America. The role supports a diverse portfolio of Commercial and Specialty lines, partnering with underwriting and business leaders to drive profitable growth through pricing, portfolio management, and strategic analytics.

The position offers significant exposure to regional leadership, diverse lines of business, and a broad range of actuarial activities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to deepen their commercial and business-facing actuarial experience.

Lines of Business Supported

The role provides actuarial support across multiple Latin America portfolios, including:

  • Property
  • Casualty
  • Marine
  • Construction
  • Additional specialty lines as required
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Reports to Actuarial Manager, Latin America & US, located in Brazil
  • Receives mentorship and exposure to senior actuarial and underwriting leadership across the region
  • Supports actuarial initiatives across the Latin America region and collaborates with regional and global Actuarial teams
  • Operates as part of an Integrated Business Unit, collaborating closely with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, Operations, and Enterprise Risk Management
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, enhancement, and deployment of pricing tools and rating methodologies across multiple lines of business
  • Provide individual account pricing support, portfolio analytics, and new business reviews as needed
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends, opportunities, and emerging risks
  • Perform profitability analyses and portfolio deep-dives to support business planning, underwriting strategy, and growth initiatives
  • Contribute to pricing transformation initiatives, including tool development, automation, and platform enhancements
  • Partner with the Reserving team during quarterly reserving reviews to strengthen feedback loops between pricing and reserving insights
  • Prepare and communicate clear, actionable analyses for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with regional and global actuarial teams to support best-practice sharing and implementation of global initiatives
  • Maintain high-quality documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and key decisions
  • Support ad hoc analyses and strategic projects for the Latin America business
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience required.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, Python etc.).
  • Ability to build complex models.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
  • Proven track record of delegation and people development skills. Ability to work both independently or as part of a wider project team. Flexibility and self-discipline to manage time and competing priorities.
