Role Overview
The Associate Forward Deployed Engineer is a critical role within the Customer Success function, designed to bridge the gap between product engineering and strategic customer environments. FDEs act as embedded advisors and consultants, helping customers achieve the vision of an "Agentic Enterprise" by translating high-value business requirements into rapid, technical implementations.
As an Associate FDE, you will work on customers directly to deliver an outcome navigating the challenges of a customer environment, yet bridging the product engineering expertise into the customer solution.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
- Own end-to-end technical delivery of WSO2 platform deployments (API Platform, Identity Platform, Developer Platform, Agent Platform) within customer environments.
- Architect integration solutions connecting enterprise systems, third‑party APIs, and AI services to deliver agentic applications.
- Mastery in "Vibe Coding" (AI for Code) and planning applications that leverage AI (Code for AI).
- Build custom integrations, connectors, and automation pipelines tailored to client workflows.
- Get embedded into customers teams and traverse through the challenges to implement the change.
- Be the trusted advisor for the customer in building WSO2 technology related solutions.
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into concrete technical architectures.
- Enable customer’s team by running workshops, design sprints, and technical deep‑dives.
- Identify expansion opportunities by understanding the customer's evolving technical landscape.
Internal Collaboration
- Bridge between Sales, Product, and Customer Success – you are the ground truth on what customers actually need.
- Contribute to reusable accelerators, reference architectures, and internal playbooks.
- Feed real‑world customer friction and requirements back to WSO2 product teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Hands‑on experience with API, integration, identity platforms.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Go, or Ballerina).
- Experience deploying on Kubernetes/cloud‑native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Customer IAM (CIAM), and general application/API security.
- Strong understanding of OAuth2, OIDC, REST, GraphQL, event‑driven architecture.
- Strong architectural understanding of systems development and CI/CD pipeline configuration.
- Comfortable presenting to both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication, customer empathy, and resilience.
- Ability to drive rapid results with adaptability despite evolving challenges or shifting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with WSO2 product stack or comparable platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, Okta).
- Experience building or integrating LLM/AI services into enterprise systems.
- Background in enterprise architecture or solution design.
- Prior experience in global customer facing technical delivery.
