Job summary

DTEB Engineering Consultancy in Bahrain seeks a Senior Architect to lead architectural design projects from concept to delivery. You will develop designs, coordinate with structural and MEP teams, review drawings, and ensure compliance with local regulations.

You will guide junior staff, manage client communications, and help advance BIM workflows while maintaining high-quality design standards. This role expects extensive experience and leadership within multidisciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture; 12+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience leading architectural design and multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction methods and detailing.
• Experience dealing with clients, contractors and government authorities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design projects from concept through design completion.
• Develop and review concept designs, schematic designs, detailed designs and construction documentation.
• Prepare and review architectural drawings, specifications, schedules and other technical documentation.
• Ensure that designs are functional, aesthetically appropriate, technically sound and commercially viable.
• Ensure compliance with Bahrain Building Regulations, planning requirements, fire and life-safety requirements and other applicable codes and standards. Review architectural details and resolve technical design issues.
• Coordinate architectural requirements with structural, MEP and other engineering disciplines.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, samples and technical submissions where required.
• Participate in site inspections and resolve architectural issues arising during construction.
• Take responsibility for the architectural delivery of assigned projects.
• Establish project priorities, deliverables and internal deadlines in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Monitor architectural progress and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
• Identify potential design, technical and Programme risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants etc.
• Ensure that project documentation is properly reviewed and controlled before submission.
• Attend client meetings and represent DTEB professionally on architectural matters.
• Understand client requirements and translate them into practical design solutions.
• Maintain effective communication with clients throughout the project.
• Coordinate with authorities and other external stakeholders when required.
• Assist in resolving client comments and design changes in a timely manner.
• Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical and professional guidance to architects, junior architects and architectural technicians.
• Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Allocate architectural tasks according to project requirements and team capabilities.
• Support the development of younger Bahraini and graduate architects within DTEB.
• Promote teamwork, professional discipline and high-quality design standards.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with DTEB's internal quality procedures.
• Carry out design reviews and technical checks before issuing drawings and documents. Ensure consistency and accuracy across architectural documentation.
• Identify design coordination issues at an early stage and ensure corrective action. Contribute to the continuous improvement of DTEB’s architectural standards and procedures.
• Utilize all relevant architectural software effectively.
• Coordinate architectural models and drawings with other disciplines.
• Support DTEB’s development and implementation of BIM-based workflows.
• Maintain appropriate standards for digital documentation, file management and drawing production.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in architecture from a recognized university.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within an architectural or multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Strong experience in the design and delivery of building projects.
• Experience in managing architectural teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction methods, materials and detailing.
• Experience in dealing with clients, contractors and government authorities.

Financial Benefits

• Basic Salary: BD 500/- to BD 600/-
