IMEC invites applications for an R&D Engineer focused on bevel management within its Bonding, Assembly and Wafer level packaging team in Leuven, Belgium. You will work in a multidisciplinary group on shaping wafer bevels using trimming, deposition, etching or polishing, primarily in cleanroom settings, while engaging with researchers, engineers and external partners.

The role involves cross-functional interaction, development of materials and processes, and contributions to 3D integration

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field; PhD advantageous.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, plasma processes and polymers is a plus.
• Foundry/OSAT experience in die-to-wafer bonding and semiconductor materials is beneficial.
• Experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, JMP) is an asset.

Responsabilités

• Define, organize and validate materials and processes during development.
• Identify metrology solutions to characterize materials.
• Contribute to research programs and joint development with partners.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and report results to stakeholders.
• Perform fundamental research and materials characterization as needed.
• Monitor industry trends and apply insights to imec programs.
• Interface with device engineers to identify future needs and trends.
• Coordinate transfer of processes and tools to support teams.
• Assist in startup of new equipment.
