Fugro in Belgium’s Louvain-la-Neuve seeks a Team Leader for the Standard Laboratory to guide a technical team, ensuring high-quality data and overseeing daily operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, solid geotechnical lab knowledge, familiarity with ISO standards, and collaboration across departments; fluency in English and French is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Leadership experience in guiding teams (>3 years).
• Solid understanding of geotechnical laboratory testing and ISO 17892/BS1377; ISO 17025 experience is a strong asset.
• Proficiency in English and French.

Responsabilités

• Lead daily operations of the Standard Laboratory, ensuring timely, within-budget data collection, testing and analysis.
• Mentor and develop the lab team through coaching and training.
• Uphold quality and safety standards, ensuring adherence to ISO 17892, BS1377 and ISO 17025.
• Manage laboratory resources, equipment maintenance and material availability.
• Drive continuous improvement through technical discussions and process enhancements.

Fugro is looking for a Team Leader for our Standard Laboratory to join our team in Belgium (Louvain-La-Neuve). In this key role, you will have a direct impact on the quality of our data and contribute to important energy and infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading Daily Operations You’ll be in charge of the day-to‑time activities of the Standard Laboratory, ensuring that your team collects, tests, and analyzes geotechnical data efficiently, on time, and within budget.
• Guiding and Developing Your Team You’ll actively manage, lead, and support your team of laboratory personnel. Helping them develop their skills through coaching and training is a big part of the job.
• Upholding Quality and Standards You will be the technical reference for your team, making sure all work meets our high quality and safety standards. A key part of this is ensuring compliance with procedures like ISO 17892, BS1377, and contributing to our ISO 17025 quality system.
• Managing Laboratory Resources You’ll ensure your team has everything it needs to succeed, from planning the maintenance and calibration of equipment to managing the availability of materials.
• Driving Continuous Improvement You will take ownership of the lab’s evolution, actively participating in technical discussions and looking for ways to improve our processes and capabilities.

What We’re Looking For

• Education A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent through experience.
• Leadership Experience Experience in leading teams (> 3 years). We welcome applications from talented individuals who are early in their leadership journey!
• Technical Knowledge A solid understanding of geotechnical laboratory testing. Knowledge of technical standards (ISO 17892, BS1377) is essential, and experience with quality processes like ISO 17025 is a strong asset.
• Languages Proficiency in both English and French is required.
• Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills, an organized and proactive mindset, and competence with standard office tools like Excel and email.
