Job summary

Pauwels Consulting in Brussels is seeking a senior Solutions Architect to lead the architecture team, evolve reference architectures, and mentor delivery squads. You will shape long-term strategy, establish SLI/SLO/SLA frameworks, and align technical work with business goals.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specs, oversee secure designs, migrate backend to modern stacks, and ensure observability with OpenTelemetry.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java/Spring Boot.
• 8+ years in technical leadership and team management.
• Fluent French and active English knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD, Maven/Gradle, and automated testing.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve reference architectures while managing technological debt and long-term strategy.
• Establish SLI, SLO, and SLA frameworks and implement monitoring strategies to ensure system reliability.

• Lead the architectural design and lifecycle management for backend migration projects toward modern technology stacks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• 8+ years of experience in technical leadership and team management.
• Expertise in frontend development using TypeScript and Angular.
• Strong background in architecture modeling using C4 or Archimate and DDD methodologies.
• Proven experience with containerization and messaging tools including Docker, Kubernetes, and RabbitMQ.
• In-depth knowledge of security and API standards such as OAuth2, OIDC, OpenAPI, and AsyncAPI.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Maven, Gradle, and automated testing tools like TDD and Cypress.
• Proficiency in Hibernate and system observability with OpenTelemetry.
• Submission of a completed coding exercise response as part of the application process.
• You are fluent in French with an active knowledge of English.

Nice to Haves

• Experience within social security institutions or related public sector domains.
• Certified Scrum Master or formal ICT project management training.
• Demonstrated success in migrating legacy systems to modern Spring architectures.
