Job summary

Act Digital is seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer for a leading European institution in Brussels. You will design frontend architecture, implement backend services, and ensure secure, scalable solutions across the stack.

Responsibilities include developing APIs, integrating cloud deployments via CI/CD, and writing documentation. Fluency in English required; French is a plus. This is a long-term, full-time role on-site in Brussels.

Job description

Act Digital is looking for a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer for a leading European institution.

TASKS :

• Development of front-end website architecture.
• Design of user interactions on web pages.
• Development of back-end website applications.
• Implement core business logic.
• Apply data and security best practices: input validation, authentication/authorization, secure storage, compliant logging and monitoring.
• Design responsive applications.
• Design and develop APIs.
• Participating in the design and creation of scalable software.
• Maintenance of code integrity and organisation.
• Writing clean, functional code on the front- and back-end.
• Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Perform unit/integration testing, debug, fix, and validate code changes.
• Deliver solutions that fulfil functional and non-functional requirements and align with user expectations.
• Write technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain features across the entire stack, from designing user interfaces and consuming APIs to implementing server-side business logic and database interactions.
• Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms using CI/CD pipelines and containerization technologies.
• Bridge the gap between front-end and back-end developers, facilitating communication and ensuring cohesive integration of all system components.

SENIORITY REQUIREMENTS :

To qualify for this position, the consultant must have:

• University degree corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a master's level or 5 years of higher education), and minimum 15 years of IT professional experience

or

• University degree corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a bachelor's level or 3 years of higher education) and minimum 17 years of IT professional experience

REQUIREMENTS :

Required Certifications :

• Java programmer certification.
• Certificate on DeepLearning.

Knowledge & Skills :

• Knowledge of front-end frameworks/libraries (Angular, React, Vue, Bootstrap) and experience with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite).
• Proficiency in Java/Node/PHP back-end stacks, experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST API development.
• Proficiency in working with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle) and nonrelational (e.g., MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based) and understanding of legacy systems using SVN.
• Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and experience with deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment.
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Bicep) for consistent environment provisioning.
• Experience in designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for developing and deploying applications.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols and standards (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT).
• Capacity to quickly ramp-up on new projects and competence in collaborating within teams.
• Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.
• Ability in applying security and cloud best practices.
• Proficiency in integrating front/back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to understand, speak and write English, optionally French as an additional asset.

Specific Requirements :

• Experience with SQL and XML in the development and integration of enterprise information systems.
• Experience with Java SE/EE enterprise application development.
• Experience with Hibernate persistence, Oracle databases, Maven builds and unit testing with JUnit.
• Experience developing enterprise applications with the Spring Framework.
• Experience with Spring MVC and Spring Security, including implementation of application business logic and access controls.
• Experience with Angular, TypeScript and Node.js, and REST/SOAP web services documented with Swagger.
• Experience in requirements analysis, application architecture, data modelling, implementation, deployment and technical support for business information systems.
