Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Secure Software and Cryptography Engineer to support the System Security Section in the TEC-SES division. The role focuses on end-to-end system security engineering across space, ground, and user segments, contributing to laboratory capability development and cryptographic evaluation for national projects.

The successful candidate will work on vulnerability assessments, security design reviews, and evaluating security standards, with emphasis on C/C++

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of professional security experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years total experience.
• Experience in cryptographic evaluation or security certification laboratory desirable.
• Knowledge of secure coding standards and software security evaluation methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Manager with test and evaluation laboratory capability plans and technologies for software security evaluation.
• Provide regular status reports to the Project Manager on assigned duties.
• Advise national customers and ESA experts on options for developing and maturing software security evaluation capability.
• Review proposals for security design, development, implementation, qualification and validation.
• Contribute to new security application areas and emerging technologies in software security evaluation.
