Job summary

ESA in Redu, Belgium, seeks a Secure Software and Applied Cryptography Engineer in the System Security Section. The role covers end-to-end security engineering for space/ground/user segments, and involves developing national security evaluation laboratory capabilities.

Requirements include a master’s degree with experience, or a bachelor’s with additional years; strong cryptography and secure coding skills are essential. The contract is for four years with ESAs commitment to diversity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field with 3 years of professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience.
• Experience in cryptographic evaluation and security standards (FIPS, PQC) is desirable.
• Knowledge of secure C/C++ programming and static code analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support project management with recommendations for test and evaluation laboratory capability development for software security evaluation.
• Provide regular status reports to the Project Manager on assigned duties.
• Advise national customers and ESA experts on options for developing software security evaluation capability.
• Define technical requirements and review project proposals including security design and validation.
• Foster new security application areas and keep up with emerging threats and industry trends.
• Contribute to laboratory activities and other technical tasks as needed.
