Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) seeks a Cryptography Evaluator Engineer within the System Security Section to support evaluation and certification of cryptographic algorithms for national capability development. The role covers security engineering across missions and systems, from study to requirements, with exposure to security standards and vulnerability assessment.

The successful candidate will contribute to parameter selection, algorithm evaluation, and the preparation of cryptographic security

Qualifications

• The design of cryptographic algorithms and protocols.
• Analysis of real-world security strength of public and private key crypto algorithms.
• Justified selection of parameter sets for real world crypto algorithms.
• Certification of crypto algorithms.
• Experience with crypto evaluation facilities and knowledge of formal crypto evaluation test standards and results analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support the project manager by providing recommendations and guidance on the evaluation and certification of cryptographic algorithms.
• Regular reporting to the Project Manager on the status of the duties assigned under the Project.
• Direct engagement with national customers and ESA experts on strengths, weaknesses and design of cryptographic algorithms and parameter selection.
• Deriving recommendations on cryptographic algorithms in relation to use case and security strength.
• Fostering new security application areas for multidisciplinary activities, emphasizing innovative concepts and system architectures in crypto evaluation and certification.
• Supporting the training of colleagues as required.
• Staying updated on technological trends and evolutions including emerging threats and industry trends.
• Engaging in other technical activities outside the main project in your area of expertise.
