Job summary

Agfa in Belgium seeks a Senior Chemist to drive Chemical Process Development in the Materials Technology Centre. You will design, develop, and scale up chemical processes for innovative materials, translating laboratory work into industrial production.

You will manage multiple projects, plan experiments, analyze data, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure successful process transfer to manufacturing while maintaining safety and compliance with Agfa standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Organic and/or Polymer Chemistry (PhD preferred).
• Hands-on laboratory experience and proactive mindset.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings.
• Curious with motivation to deepen expertise in process technologies and synthesis.
• Organized and able to manage multiple projects in parallel.
• Fluent in Dutch and English or willing to learn Dutch.
• Willing to travel occasionally (~10%).

Responsibilities

• You will design and develop chemical processes that are technically feasible, cost-efficient and scalable towards industrial production.
• You will define experimental programs and ensure a structured and data-driven approach.
• You will organize and oversee laboratory work, including experimental planning, execution, analysis and reporting of results.
• You will implement innovative technologies for scale-up from laboratory to industrial scale.
• You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support process transfer to production.
• You will manage multiple projects and ensure clear stakeholder communication.
• You will ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, inline with our Agfa processes and standards.
