European Payments Initiative (EPI) seeks an experienced backend engineer to own features end-to-end, shaping cloud microservices and API design. You will partner with product, design, frontend and QA to deliver scalable, secure payments infrastructure across Europe.

Join a remote-first team, with quarterly in-person meetups and a strong focus on code quality, testing, and platform decisions to support growth and cross-border payments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software development with 5+ years backend.
• Degree in CS/Engineering preferred.
• Fluent in English; French/German/Dutch a plus.
• Thrives in remote-first, multicultural environment.

Responsabilités

• Own backend features end-to-end from API design to deployment.
• Lead architecture and evolution of microservices for scale.
• Uphold code quality with maintainable, testable services.
• Support frontend engineers with backend guidance and data contracts.
• Drive platform decisions aligned with product needs and growth.
• Balance platform consistency with web-specific needs; pragmatic trade-offs.
• Improve backend reliability and delivery speed for mobile and platform teams.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA and other backend teams.
