European Payments Initiative is hiring for a senior backend engineer to own end-to-end features and shape the architecture of cloud-based microservices in a remote-first setup. You will work closely with product teams to align backend delivery with evolving European payments initiatives.

The role requires 7+ years in software development, strong backend experience, and fluent English; cross-language collaboration is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 5 years backend.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred.
• Fluent in English (CEFR C1/C2); other European languages are a plus.
• Thrives in a remote-first, multicultural environment.

Responsabilités

• Own and deliver backend features end to end, from API design to deployment and support.
• Lead architecture and evolution of cloud-based microservices for scale, security and performance.
• Define high code quality standards and maintainable services.
• Support frontend engineers with backend guidance on data contracts and performance.
• Drive backend platform decisions aligned with product needs and growth.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, QA and other teams for efficient delivery.
