Job summary

SOFICO is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build Java APIs and business workflows that connect our Miles platform with a new Agentic AI platform. You’ll design reliable, multi-step workflows with strong validation, testing and failure handling, and work with Quarkus, REST APIs, and distributed systems.

You’ll collaborate with Backend, AI and Workflow Engineers to turn complex business requirements into maintainable backend solutions and contribute to safe AI-assisted software engineering

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in Java with a track record of building reliable services.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong focus on automated testing (unit/integration).
• Experience with complex workflows, transactions and business rules.
• Interest in AI-assisted software engineering and practical tooling integration.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Java/Quarkus backend services and REST APIs.
• Design reliable multi-step business workflows with validation and error handling.
• Integrate Miles with the Agentic AI platform and Temporal.
• Translate complex business requirements into clean, tested backend solutions.
• Collaborate with Backend, AI, Workflow, Business Analysts and Test Automation teams.
