Jobgether is partnering to fill a Data API Engineer role focused on PostgreSQL-powered API development. The engineer will contribute to PostgREST, optimize the PostgreSQL driver (Hasql), and help scale a multitenant Data API for developers worldwide.

The position emphasizes open-source collaboration, strong Haskell expertise, and a distributed, asynchronous team culture. Remote-friendly with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience with Haskell.
• Experience using the C programming language and the ability to work with systems-level code.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL scripts.
• Experience debugging applications in Linux environments.
• A track record of contributing to open-source projects.
• Experience providing technical support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset in an asynchronous environment.
• Enthusiasm for open-source development and developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Improve database connectivity: PostgreSQL driver used by PostgREST, built on Hasql, to improve performance.
• Develop Data API capabilities and implement new features for a scalable, multitenant API.
• Enhance reliability and performance by diagnosing issues and implementing fixes.
• Strengthen observability through monitoring and diagnostics.
• Handle incidents and escalated support requests effectively.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to resolve integration issues.
• Support developers and users by communicating solutions clearly.
• Contribute to open-source projects and shared tooling.
• Drive code quality and developer experience improvements.
