Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a Product Software Engineer to own backend-focused product domains within a large-scale data platform. You will translate product requirements into scalable solutions and contribute across the stack, with a focus on reliability and production readiness.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, mentor peers, and drive architectural excellence in CI/CD and testing while embracing modern SaaS concepts such as multi-tenancy, API design, and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a solid backend foundation.
• Experience designing, building, and operating software in production using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of modern SaaS concepts: API design, distributed systems, authentication, multi-tenancy.
• Experience with data technologies: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployments.
• Ability to investigate root causes and reason about architectural trade-offs.
• Product mindset focused on solving core problems, not just features.
• Fluent in Dutch with good English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of product features from analysis and design through implementation and deployment.
• Act as technical reference and domain owner for specific product areas.
• Build and maintain software across the full stack with a backend focus.
• Translate product and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to balance value and technical sustainability.
• Contribute to engineering excellence in architecture, testing, CI/CD, and reliability.
• Share knowledge and mentor team members to raise overall capability.
