Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a Product Software Engineer to own backend-focused product domains within a large-scale data platform. You will translate product requirements into scalable solutions and contribute across the stack, with a focus on reliability and production readiness.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, mentor peers, and drive architectural excellence in CI/CD and testing while embracing modern SaaS concepts such as multi-tenancy, API design, and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a solid backend foundation.
• Experience designing, building, and operating software in production using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of modern SaaS concepts: API design, distributed systems, authentication, multi-tenancy.
• Experience with data technologies: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployments.
• Ability to investigate root causes and reason about architectural trade-offs.
• Product mindset focused on solving core problems, not just features.
• Fluent in Dutch with good English proficiency.

This role focuses on backend engineering within a large-scale data platform while contributing across the stack to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

• Take end-to-end ownership of product features from initial analysis and technical design through to implementation and deployment.
• Act as the technical point of reference and domain owner for specific product areas.
• Build and maintain software across the full stack with a heavy focus on backend engineering.
• Translate product and business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and practical technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to make informed trade-offs between product value and technical sustainability.
• Contribute to engineering excellence in areas such as architecture, testing, CI/CD, and operational reliability.
• Share technical knowledge and mentor team members to raise the overall technical level.
