We have an opening in our Thin Films Business Unit to enable research and development of innovative processes and advancements in the fields of ALD, CVD, and PVD for semiconductor technologies. In this role, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to demonstrate feasibility of new process technologies. This includes transferring process learning and providing guidance to TEL factory engineers to create innovative leading-edge tools and processes for TEL’s customers.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to conduct research, development, and optimization of thin film deposition and related technologies.
  • Develop novel processes and applications in the areas of logic, memory and emerging semiconductor devices and technologies.
  • Establish procedures, equipment configurations and adopt a hands-on approach to sustain and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, research consortia, material suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop leading edge thin film processes and products for TEL.
  • Identify potential intellectual property opportunities and ensure timely disclosures to build and maintain a strong patent portfolio.
  • Domestic and international travel, as necessary for internal and external meetings.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • PhD is required in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, preferably with education or experience related to semiconductors. Alternatively, a MSc in related fields with more than 5 years of industrial experience in semiconductor technologies.
  • 3 to 5 years of experimental experience in semiconductor related processes, especially in ALD, CVD and related deposition techniques. May include graduate work toward a degree.
  • Demonstrates understanding of semiconductor technology and/or process equipment technology.
  • Familiar with materials characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, TEM, Ellipsometry, XRD, XRR, TEM and electrical characterization.
  • Ability to work daily in a cleanroom environment with hands-on processing using research systems for process development.
  • Able to independently manage process development projects, solve problems and drive results.

This position is appropriate for a recent Ph.D. graduate.
