Job summary

Digi Belgium is seeking a health and safety professional to drive safety across telecom projects in Belgium. You will develop policies, conduct risk analyses, and oversee field safety on mobile and fixed networks.

The role requires a mandatory Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1, a master’s in engineering, and willingness to travel across sites while coordinating with engineers, project teams, and authorities.

Qualifications

• Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1 is mandatory.
• Ideally a master’s degree in Engineering, preferably Telecommunications.
• Experience in telecom construction, installations, or networks is a plus.
• Willing to travel across sites within Belgium.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies and procedures for telecom activities.
• Conduct risk analyses for network construction, installation, and maintenance.
• Perform regular site visits to monitor safety compliance on mobile and fixed networks.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses with root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Belgian safety laws and telecom standards through audits.
• Promote a strong safety culture among engineers, contractors, and management.
• Support safety trainings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for teams and partners.
• Act as safety partner for telecom projects throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate with external authorities and inspection bodies on safety matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety Policy & Strategy:Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies and procedures adapted to telecom engineering activities (mobile and fixed networks);
• Risk Analysis & Assessments:Conduct in-depth risk analyses for network construction, installation, and maintenance activities, both on-site and in office-based projects;
• Field Safety Oversight:Perform regular site visits to monitor compliance with safety regulations, identify hazards, and proactively address risks on mobile and fixed network construction sites;
• Incident & Accident Investigation:Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analyses, and define corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence;
• Compliance & Audits:Ensure compliance with Belgian safety legislation and telecom-specific standards through inspections, audits, and safety reviews;
• Safety Culture Development:Work closely with engineers, contractors, project managers, and management to promote a strong safety culture across the organization;
• Training & Awareness:Support the development and delivery of safety trainings, toolbox meetings, and awareness campaigns for internal teams and external partners;
• Project Support:Act as a safety partner for telecom projects, advising engineering and deployment teams throughout the project lifecycle;
• External Coordination:Liaise with external authorities, inspection bodies, and partners regarding safety matters when required;

Job Requirements

Must have qualities & talents:

• Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1 (mandatory);
• Ideally master’s degree in Engineering, preferably Telecommunications Engineering;
• Proven experience in constructions, installations construction - including electrical, data, equipment, networks (launch, implementation, maintenance or infrastructure projects) - construction of mobile and/or fixed telecommunications networks is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of risks related to telecom field activities (working at height, RF exposure, electrical risks, civil works, etc.);
• Fluent in French and Dutch, with a good professional knowledge of English, Romanian is a plus;
• Willing and able to be mobile across different sites, combined with office-based work;
• Strong analytical mindset with a pragmatic, hands-on approach;
• Able to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering, QHSE, and project teams.

Nice to have:

• VCA-VOL certification;
• GOF 3–4;
• Knowledge of Belgian telecom safety standards and regulations;
• Experience working with contractors and subcontractors in telecom environments.
