Job summary

Elia Group is seeking a Permits Engineering Expert to steer permit plan files within the Grid Projects Department, focusing on Flemish or Walloon regulations. You will collaborate closely with the engineering and design teams to ensure compliant, timely permit submissions.

You will monitor evolving regional rules, validate plan files, and act as the main contact for permit documents while supporting designers and project leaders with expert guidance.

Qualifications

• Familiar with spatial planning regulations and environmental permits (Flanders focus).
• Basic technical knowledge or strong technical interest to understand projects.
• Analytical mind and good assessment skills.
• Able to summarise divergent views objectively.
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
• Persuasive communication in written and spoken form.
• Perfect command of Dutch (Flanders) or French (Wallonia), with good knowledge of the other language.

Responsibilities

• Translate permit policy into the plan file and ambitions for infrastructure projects in different regions.
• Monitor regional legislation, permit procedures and guidelines and translate into standards and processes.
• Monitor and report on the application of permit policy.
• Validate plan files to submit permits to authorities.
• Act as point of contact for plan files.
• Provide solutions and targeted support to designers and project leaders.
• Organise knowledge exchange to improve permit policy and implement proposals.
• Ensure availability of expertise in permitting to assess legislative consequences on design.
• Train and coach colleagues in constructing permit plan files.
• Represent company interests at government and professional meetings and manage queries on drawings.
